Tech tip: Protect your passwords

Password hacking is one of the most common ways people can gain access to your private personal and business information. Here are our top three tips for protecting your passwords:

  1. Choose the right type of password. You don’t need a complicated one with symbols, letters and numbers (after all, you want to remember it). Instead, try a password comprising four or give distinct, unrelated words. The longer it is, the harder it will be to guess.

  2. Never use the same password for multiple logins and don’t write it down anywhere.

  3. Consider using a password manager. Do your research and find a credible, secure manager such as KeePass or LastPass. With a password manager you’ll only have to remember one password and type it into your password manager when prompted.
